Happy 2019! Can you even believe it’s here? I love New Year’s Day. I regard it as my annual do-over.
Let’s talk about New Year’s resolutions. Love them or hate them, most of us still come up with at least one or two each year. I know I always create a massive list. Personally, I love the idea of them. A fresh start- goals to make this particular year the best year ever.
I know I’m not alone in my New Year’s resolution making, either. Nearly everyone seems to make them and it seems like almost everyone seems to fail at achieving them- present company included! In fact, a survey conducted by the University of Scranton indicates only a mere 8% of people actually achieve their New Year’s goals.
In my case, I believe my resolution failures have stemmed from setting an overly lengthy list of overly ambitious goals and not having any actual roadmap to guide me to achieving them. I suspect that’s true for a lot of others, as well.
So this year, I’m going to pare down my list of resolutions, and I’m going to try and apply the SMART method (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant and Timely) to create a realistic plan for myself. I had used the SMART method many moons ago when I used to used to work in a corporate environment. It was a helpful method that pretty much always set me up for a successful year.
Do you have any resolutions of your own for the upcoming year? Share them with me in the comments area below.
I’m keeping the list manageable this year with my main goal to focus more on my blog. I plan to have a plan! And I’d like to read more. One book a month. If I can squeeze in more that’s a bonus!
I wish you nothing but good vibes and good health for the best 2019 anyone has ever seen!
Thanks for reading! Cheers!
