Are you a plant lover? I am. I love the deep connection I feel to the earth when I’m digging in the dirt. To me, it’s cathartic. And having a proper garden is one of the things I miss most about my home in the States. But since I’ve been in London I’ve grown to love the beautiful containers the residents keep filled with gorgeous flora nearly all year round.
This is why I am so excited about the 2019 Adopt A Plant Sale taking place on Saturday, 27 July, at Morden Hall Parkwhich is a lovely free to enter National Trust property in South London.
This event is a unique and special opportunity to adopt and take home one of the plants from the renowned RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. As an adorning fan of the flower shows that the RHS amazes us with, each year, I’m thrilled to bring home a little piece of it to liven up my home!
The Beginning of a Beautiful Friendship
Last year, the National Trust and Wayward, the London-based landscape, architecture and art practice collaborated on a plant give away event. Because it was so successful last year they’re joining together once again to rehome thousands of plants and materials from this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. It’s a wonderful opportunity to take home a plant for free and add some beautiful foliage to your home.
The Adopt a Plant event at Morden Hall Park will take place on Saturday, 27 July, from 11:00am – 4:00pm.
The location is Morden Hall Road, Morden, London SM4 5JD
By tube, Morden (Northern Line), then a 500 yard walk along Aberconway Road, or Wimbledon (District Line) then tram to Phipps Bridge or bus to Kenley Road. By train, Tramlink to Phipps Bridge stop, on park boundary 1⁄2 mile walk from Stableyard. By bus, the following bus routes stop on the boundary of the park: 80, 118, 157, 164, 201, 470, 93, and the K5 route terminates at Morden Station, a 500 yard walk away along Aberconway Road.
Upon completing Wayward Plant adoption form, stating how and where where the plant will live, visitors will be able to rehome a plant from one of the world’s most prestigious flower shows. I can’t wait to meet my plant!
